To be chosen among so many is always an honor. Hence any publication is an award in itself. Haiku Girl Summer is a Journal with issues only in summer. I have been privileged to be published five times in this year’s issues. Many thanks to the editors of this summer for selecting my haiku: Katherine E. Winnick, Vidya Shankar, Jennifer Gurney, and Caroline Wermuth

midsummer berries…
we harvest tangy
jam sandwiches
eye floaters
cottonwood seeds

raining blooms

And what made this summer’s fruit even sweeter was that of all the poems that were selected for publication, a few were nominated for The Haiku Foundation Touchstone Award 2025. I am so thankful that two of mine (in bold above) have featured in the list!
Thank you, Allyson Whipple for the journal, and the Touchstone nomination!
