It will soon be three years since I discovered the world of haiku. No, not the 5-7-5 form that we were taught in school because it was easier to teach syllables using this idea.
It was in a workshop by John Stevenson during the inauguration of Triveni Haikai India, where the realization of the relation between nature and human through a very few words dawned on me. John was kind enough to respond to an email by the brazen and bold me, and showed me the initial steps. The world of haiku increased my sensitivity to nature, to people, to my own self. Haiku is a poetry form which is difficult to define, bordering on philosophy in my mind.

Finally now, Poets&Writers, a mainstream magazine has published a short article by haijin and editor of Acorn, Susan Antolin on haiku. It is definitely worth a read. Or seven, it is a short one, yet packs a lot.
